Introducing Module of the Week

Module of the Week is a weekly blog post that explores the lesser-known parts of Effect, one module at a time.

Three-panel comic: a tired developer stands beside a broken car labeled "My custom implementation" and tells an Effect salesperson they need a queue, retries, and concurrency control. The salesperson slaps the roof of an Effect car: "You would not BELIEVE how many problems somebody already solved in this thing." Modules spill out, including PersistedQueue. The developer says, "I spent two weekends on this." The salesperson replies, "Oof. Those aren’t refundable."

Ever spent two weeks building a feature, only to discover Effect already had it?

You could’ve used that module…

You could’ve borrowed a few ideas…

You COULD have gone outside…

…now you just want your weekend back.

We can’t do much about your weekend, but we are starting a new blog series called “Module of the Week”.

Each week, we’ll pick a lesser-known module or concept in Effect, show you how it works, and explain when you might reach for it. Consider this an intervention for anyone whose idea of a relaxing Saturday is implementing a semaphore.

We want you to have hobbies. Let us help you touch some more grass.

Read the blog.
